Responsible Tourist Code of Conduct
Traveling allows us to explore, discover and enjoy the best that tourist destinations have to offer. As travelers, we should commit to respecting our environment. To enhance your experience, we recommend the following
- Research your destination to learn about local customs.
- Learn a few words in the native language; this will help you establish a better connection with the local community.
- Appreciate, learn about and respect the history, architecture, religion, dess codes and communication styles, music, art and gastronomy of the place you visit.
- Do not photograph people without their consent or offer money in exchange.
- Treat local employees and service providers with kindness and respect.
- Do not purchase or accept gifts made threatened or endangered plants or animals.
- Avoid using disposable straws and utensils.
- Conserve energy and water where you accommodation.
- Dipose of trash properly or carry it until you find an appropriate disposal site.
- Plan your transportation to help reduce carbon emissions.
- Respect and protect natural and archaeological sites; do not damage flora or feed wildlife.
- Prefer organic and biodegradable products.
- Do not remove natural resources such as plants, animals, stones, sand, coral, snails, seasshells or other materials from natural environment. (The import or export of such goods is a violation of Federal laws and is punishable under the current penal code.)
- Respect wildlife.
- Choose locally made products and pay artisans a fair prices.
- Do not buy counterfeit or items prohibited by national or international regulations.
- Chose products and services from companies that respect diversity and equality.
- Comply with local and national laws and regulations of you destination. Respect private property and do not consume, transport, exchange or request illegal substances.
- Respect human rights and protect children and adolescents from any form of exploitation (especially sexual and labor).
- Learn how to access medical care and avoid self-medicating.
- Support and promote non-profit community projects.
- Report any acts of bribery, injustice, exploitation or discrimination to the relevant authorities.
- Upon your return home, feel free to share honest and respectuful feedback and on social media.
